I really have no interest in the next console generation. I just can’t see Sony or Microsoft putting out anything that will make me want to buy their systems. They keep pushing things besides games that they can do like connect to social media or be an entertainment hub for your cable and Netflix and whatnot, but I don’t want either of those. There is no shortage of social media in my life; I don’t need an extra one that only works for things I do in Halo. And the fact is that I will always have at least the current Nintendo console, so I really don’t care whether or not the Xbox can switch to cable because unless it can switch to my WiiU too (it will never do this), I’ll still need to have a setup to switch my TV/tuner input. I feel like they’re trying to fix a lot of problems that don’t actually exist and are ignoring the only thing I care about which is games.

As far as games go though, I think the only existing IP either Sony or Microsoft has that would sell a system for me is Kingdom Hearts 3. There are a few more that are even longer shots like a new Valkyria Chronicles, Left 4 Dead 3, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon X Mischief Makers, a really good Super Sentai Game, or a killer exclusive Harvest Moon title, but I’m comfortable saying those will never happen. As far as a new IP goes, it would need to be pretty damn incredible and something legitimately new and most importantly, not a FPS. I think I’m fed up with first person holding a gun as an interface with a virtual world (Valve titles excluded for reasons I don’t have the energy to go into right now). A AAA title that grabs me like an indie title like Journey does might be able to do it though.

In short, I don’t care at all that Call of Duty: Dog will be a launch title on the Xbox VCR.
